Your Kingdom Come
In Matthew 3:2 we see John the Baptist calling on people to prepare for the Kingdom of Heaven.
The earlier parts of this series have involved prayers of preparation:
Deliverance, temptation, forgiveness, provision, character and God's will.
We now come to the prayer 'Your Kingdom Come' - I want to go for it, I don't want to be held back.
What is it? Where is it?
Jesus declared: 'God's Kingdom is here with you / is in your hearts' (Luke 17:21).
So, as mentioned before, praying 'Your will ... on earth ... as in heaven' starts with me - not the other bloke!
St Paul refers to us as being 'ambassadors for Christ ... God making his appeal through us' (2 Corinthians 5:20).
We have this treasure in earthly vessels showing the real power comes from God, not from us - despite what happens (2 Corinthians 4:7).
I'm reminded of the words of the song:
I know who holds the future , And I know he holds my hand;
With God things don't just happen ev'rything by Him is planned.
So as I face tomorrow with its problems large and small,
I'll trust the God of miracles, Give to Him my all!
