Your will be Done

Does this mean - submission to God, putting myself in God's hand, nothing I can do?
Does this mean - I adopt a 'Laissez Faire' attitude? i.e. - what will be will be!

Part of the answer is involving God in prayer about my daily life.
What train to catch, which side of road to walk on, which hotel to book, making business plans.
If something traumatic happens (e.g. terrorist attack - to take an extreme example) I can say with confidence 'God called me here for such a time as this' (Esther 4:14) and 'You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good' (Genesis 5:20). I would prefer not to go through the trauma and whether I could cope is another matter (see part 2 of this series) - but I can rely on God being for me, not against me, and will bring me through!

Or is there something more to God's will than this?

I recall the 'shock' one day realising that God's will was not to polish my theology, but change my character. Both still a work in progress.
Don't get me wrong - bad theology will keep you away from God's provision, but good theology will not earn you special favours!
We are saved by grace not works (Ephesians 2:8).

St Paul wrote about 'discerning and approving what God's will is - his pleasing and perfect will' (Romans 12:2). What is he referring to? Could it be the foolishness of the cross he wrote about it (1 Corinthians 1:18). He also wrote that this 'discerning  and approving' requires a 'renewal of mind' (Romans 12:1). Overlaps with what Jesus referred to as being 'born again' without which one cannot see the Kingdom of God (John 3).

God's will is wrapped up in the cross - he is for you not against you.

Jesus declared: "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD" (Luke 4:18-19).

Jesus declared: "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.…" (John 10:9-11).

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.…"

We are damaged goods deserving destruction, but God's will is that we be healed (Hebrews 12:13).
