Talking with someone about something they had arranged to do I was struck by the thought 'are you walking by faith or by fear?'.
Are you fearful of the thing itself or are you fearful of other people's opinions?
In Romans 14v23 we read:
But the person who has doubts is condemned if he ..., because he does not act in faith; and anything that is not done in faith is sin.
In 1 John 4v4 we read:
... the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Is that true or not?
In Ps 23 we read:
I will fear no evil, He is with me, His staff nudges me in the right direction, His rod discourages my enemies.
Is He your shepherd?
Do you test the spirits or do you run after everything that sounds good or is socially acceptable / pleasing?
Consider 1 John 4 in more detail:
Dear friends, stop believing every spirit.
Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize God’s Spirit:
- Every spirit who acknowledges that Jesus the Messiah has become human — and remains so — is from God.
- But every spirit who does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.
This is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard that he is coming, and now he is already in the world. - Little children, you belong to God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
- These people belong to the world. That is why they speak from the world’s perspective, and the world listens to them.
