I've previously mentioned that Hezekiah's illness is recorded 3 times by different authors, each with their unique emphasis.
2 Kings 20:1-11
2 Chronicles 32:24-26
Isaiah 38
To be mentioned 3 times suggests that God wants to place a particular emphasis on this event. Using 3 different authors (perspectives) adds to the weight.
In the genealogy of Joseph, the legal father (stepfather) of Jesus, we find both Hezekiah and his son Manasseh. See Mathew 1:10. Hezekiah lived 18 years after his illness, Manasseh became King when he was 12 years old. In other words if Hezekiah had not lived then the Messiah (Jesus) would not have been born!
With what has transpired, and in my current circumstances, it is easy to apply the "I knew you to be a hard man" words of Mathew 25:24 to Father God. Where is the 'Goodness of God' I have spoken about, and experienced, over the last year?
Oh, the encouragement from the timing of Hezekiah's illness and the timing of drawing my wife's attention to it. I have not escaped Father God's attention, He is not 'a hard man'!
Everything will work out well.
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Like many people I had heard rumours of Heidi Baker and miracles in Mozambique, but not investigated further. A few days ago her husband, Rolland Baker, came to my attention via YouTube and I discovered that they are connected with Mel Tari - a significant name from a very long time ago. My interest peaked! Rolland also referred to Sadhu Sundar Singh, another name I have not heard mentioned for ages.
Following the trail Father God seemed to be laying out for me led me to the Iris Ministries After Hours Podcasts, starting from the first one.
It's been hard for them, there have been mistakes, there has been repentance - but through it all Father God has been good, showing undeserved kindness.
I am 'a work in progress', in a season I don't want to be in, struggling to watch where I put my feet, but I know 'Father God is for me, not against me'.
Psalms 31:3-5
You, Lord God, are my might rock and my fortress.
Lead me and guide me, so that your name will be honoured.
Protect me from hidden traps and keep me safe.
You are faithful, and I trust you because you rescued me.
