At other times I have made reference to the character of God and the phrase 'God is love' encompassing His dealings us.
Looking at what is commonly called The Beatitudes the other day I spotted Jesus in there.
Jesus is poor in spirit.
Jesus mourns.
Jesus is meek.
Jesus hungers and thirsts for righteousness.
Jesus is merciful.
Jesus is pure in heart.
Jesus is a peacemaker.
Jesus is persecuted.
Jesus is ridiculed.
I am reminded of Philippians 2:6-8 Jesus Christ ... did not demand and cling to his rights as God, but laid aside his mighty power and glory ...
Hunger and thirsting for righteousness reminds me of of Matthew 4:4:2-3 where Jesus was hungry and the tempter said "if you are ... command ...". Oh yes, Jesus by a word of command is able to satisfy His hunger and all unrighteousness dealt with... but then, if He had done that I would not be here writing this John 3:16 God so loved the world... and 2 Peter 3:9 the LORD does not desire any to perish.
Being quotes from the New Testament those last quotes would have originally been written in Greek.
God - Theos a general word for God.
Lord - Kyrios a personal name designating His Lordship over all, the God to whom I have to give account of my time in this body. Kryios was used in the Septuagint (Greek translation of Hebrew before the New Testament) to translate YHWH (Jahweh). Elsewhere it is often used to refer to Jesus. In addition to Jesus's own comments making Himself equal to God (John 5:18) this adds to the witness that Jesus is LORD.
