Genesis 18:2 The Lord / three men (?) standing nearby and Abraham went to meet them.
Reminds me of Exodus 3:2-4 The Lord waiting to see if Moses would go and have a look at the burning bush (what if he had not ...?).
Genesis 18:17-19 The Lord discussing with himself whether to reveal to Abraham what He was about to do.
Reminds me of John 15:15 "I am no longer calling you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing. Now I have called you friends, because everything I have heard from My Father I have made known to you".
This is a call to intercession for others - the Lord will listen to such appeals 'to the Courts of Heaven' - cf Exodus 32:31-32, Numbers 14:13-25, Hebrews 7:25
In his intercession I get the sense that Abraham was nervous - felt like 'he was pushing his luck' - 'May the Lord not be angry'.
Did Abraham give up at 10 (v32) or did the Lord walk away from the conversation at that point?
Reads to me like the Lord finished the conversation rather than Abraham.
Genesis 18:20-21 The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah.
Who was making this outcry? - they were having a good time!
Ezekiel 16:49 gives us more detail "Sodom’s sins were pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door."
Reminds me of Revelation 6:10 "How long ... before you will avenge".
Revelation 8:3-5 speaks of the prayers of God's people and the not insignificant impact they have.
Psalm 141:2 and Revelation 5:8 also speak of prayers being like incense - but what result of his prayers does the Psalmist expect to see?
Psalm 141:10 "Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety".
In Revelation 9:13 we read of "a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God".
Whose voice is that? Could it be the prayers of God's people (Revelation 8:3) crying "How long" (Revelation 6:10)?
Trouble with God's judgements? Are your ways trustworthy and true (Revelation 22:6)? Are you greater than God?
2 Peter 3:9 God's will - "... not wanting anyone to perish, but for all to come to repentance ...".
John 3:16 God's provision - "... He gave ..."
Revelation 9:20-21 The response - "... did not repent ..."
The judgement - whose fault was that?
