I've heard of traffic light signal colours being used as examples of God's responses to prayers for guidance.

The idea occurred to me ... would railway signals provide a better example?

GREEN - proceed at maximum permitted speed.
There's more than colour to that analogy ... permitted line speed or permitted vehicle speed?
Ignoring both will end in tears.
The speed your environment can cope with or the speed you can cope with?

YELLOW - proceed but be prepared to stop.

RED - stop and await instructions.

One sign which does not fit so well into the railway scenario ...

NO ENTRY - do not even think about going down that route!
Can obviously point to Biblical nogo areas, but that route could be something good.
Just get a niggle to walk away from an opportunity!
The good can be the enemy of the best.

In Romans 14:23 we read "everything that does not come from faith is sin".
The question is - are you "living by faith" or "living in sin"?

Are you comfortable having 'a little talk with Jesus' about your life, activities, plans?
Genesis 3:10 comes to mind.

But don't be discouraged there is a bloke in heaven making intercession for us!
Hebrews 4:15-16
Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. But he did not sin!
So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God.
There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
