In Daniel 9:20 we read:
"While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy hill of my God ..."
Daniel is there summarising what we can read previously in verses 1-19.
Seeing that earlier in 'the appointed reading for the day' and then this document "An Appeal to the Supreme Court of Heaven" coming to my attention the idea occurred to me to continue on the theme of the previous article "Pathetic Prophets - Who are the Real Men of God?".
In this context I need to make plain these are not "my people" in the sense of which Daniel wrote. I speak from a place of intellectual, social and political ignorance.
I am refering to the current tensions in the United States of America. I sense this is a pivotal moment for that nation, the words of Jonah to Nineveh (Jonah 3:4) come to mind.
If there is not a turning then the following scenario comes to my mind:
- This will be the end of the US as we have known it.
- There will be bloodshed.
- There will not be another US presidential election as we have known them in the past.
Those who hope for more success for Trump next time will be disappointed - there will not be another opportunity.
Biden? What is God's will for him?
Ezekiel 18:23 sums it up very nicely:
Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. would I not prefer he turn from his ways and live?
As things stand at the moment he has to go.
An outcome which is not without historical precedent (don't believe me? - get a Bible and read it!).
Many (false prophets?) have prophesied Trump's presidency. The testimonies of some stir the spirit as being genuine (being consistent with what I know of God's dealings with men), others jumping on the Trump bandwagon? I don't know. Maybe this shaking is about exposing the genuine and the counterfeit.
Do I sit back and let God in His Sovereignty and power sort it all out? Jesus taught us to pray "Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven" and He taught us to "seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness" in our daily lives. The outcome depends on both prayer and practical outworking - being light, being salt.
God has the power - why doesn't He use it?
Having the power / muscle to do something does not give Him the authority to do it.
God's throne is built on righteousness and justice.
That's what this battle is about - Satan wants God to act out of character!
