I've been thinking about condemnation and conviction recently.

I've associated condemnation and conviction with specific, identifiable, sin.
Condemnation digging you into a deeper hole, conviction providing a means of escape.

True, but it is not limited to sin, in the specific sense.
Condemnation and conviction can also come into play when dealing with something good.

Condemnation

Comes from Satan - acting through other people or your own thoughts.

There is no hope.
Your're out of your depth.
Wait until they meet the real you.
Your're not worth that salary.
This job is out of your league.

Results - poverty (of spirit, mind & body), missed opportunities

Conviction

Comes from God - He says there is a problem here, let me help you.

He recognizes you are 'damaged goods' destined for destruction.
-His will is your restoration.
He recognizes your weekness.
-He offers you His strength.

Results - a healthier, wealthier and wiser you!

The catch - it requires humility

God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.
