Well the week I mentioned was turned upside down.
Day out went ahead though - with sons as a bonus!
Very frustrating period - feel we are going down, not up!
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord isn't slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is.
In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn from sin and no one to be lost.
Or as I've mentioned elsewhere based on Hebrews 12:13
We are damaged goods deserving destruction, but God's will is that we be healed.
There is more to this than 'just' Jenny standing up in full health.
Things of eternal significance more important than that which will pass in a few years.
On one occassion in a boat with the 12 Jesus told a storm to shutup Mark 4:39.
On another occassion he promised they could speak to mountains and do greater works.
Later in a storm He promised Paul that Paul and those with him would be saved.
However, they all went through the trauma of a shipwreck clinging onto planks of wood.
Had no-one told Paul about speaking to storms and the greater works?
We feel like Paul and the others in the trauma of a shipwreck.
In 2 Corinthians 12:8 Paul refers to an occassion when he was begging the Lord to take a problem he had away. Then God replied "My kindness is all you need." Did Paul pray like that and receive a similar response in this storm? Once he had had his assurance of safety did he then turn to praying for those with him? - and the response was "God will save the lives of everyone on the ship." (v24).
When Paul encouraged the others to have something to eat (v35) we read 'he broke bread''. A hint here that he took the opportunity to preach the Gospel. He would not have passed around small crumbs like some groups, but would have broken all the bread into large pieces for passing around and sharing. It was eat it or lose it!
We can be certain Paul did know about God's love for us...
Can anything separate us from the love of Christ?
....
In everything we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us.
...
Nothing in all creation can separate use from God's love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!
Romans 8:35-39
Just read of a certain 'big name preacher' admitting to a humiliating defeat due to pride and self-reliance.
One of the 'more important' areas in me which needs to be dealt with?
What about other areas of my imagination / fears over future?
Make straight paths for your feet so that that which is damaged may not be destroyed but rather restored - Hebrews 12:13.
