Some years ago I came across an old song with that title, never got it out of my head.
Today, at long last, I decided to look it up - no I had not imagined it!
Comes from the pen of a guy called Alfred Smith and "... provides a practical commitment for daily living. The godly wisdom described in the Word of God has to do with our values and priorities. Instead of our lives being ruled by temporal and material values, we need a spiritual and eternal value system ...". The song says simply:
With eternity’s values in view, Lord,
With eternity’s values in view;
May I do each day’s work for Jesus,
With eternity’s values in view.
I mentioned elsewhere about this website that "... I did not want a blog or something about myself ..." and so this is no diary or accounts of the issues we face. Regardless we need to keep reminding ourselves of the eternal perspective and in the words of another song "I know who holds the future" we look to Him who is our hope:
I know who holds the future,
And I know he holds my hand;
With God things don't just happen ev'rything by Him is planned.
So as I face tomorrow with its problems large and small,
I'll trust the God of miracles, Give to Him my all!
Whether the visible outcome of our situation is what is commonly referred to as 'good' or 'bad' we are seeking His Kingdom and praying 'Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.' - and as we have read the end of the book we know it will be good!
As someone once wrote about eternal values: "We die only once, and then we are judged." (Hebrews 9v27)
Are you living in readiness for that tomorrow...?
