I have no direct connection with Bethel Church in Redding California, but people I know / churches involved with have and names of some people who have had to flee been mentioned.

Asked to pray. How, what?

Bethel more important than fires, floods, earthquakes, political turmoil, wars, deportations, ethnic cleansing... ?

This is the stuff of  Luke 21v26 and Luke 19v41.

So how to pray? I am reminded of an article I wrote in 2009 titled End of the World and also a God is Good article from 2017.

What instructions did Jesus give regarding the fall of Jerusalem (Matthew 24), how do these apply to those at Bethel?

He did not say -'pray these things will not happen'.

Matt 24v15 : Be observant, watch what is going on.

Matt 24v16 : Make plans for your evacuation / decide on your route.

Matt 24v17 : Don't be double minded. Be decisive.

Matt 24v18 : Don't keep changing your mind as to what to keep / what to leave behind.

Matt 24v19 : In Psalm 105v37, referring to the flight from Egypt, we read 'no-one faltered / no-one left behind / there was none feeble'. Really? Bit hard to believe. A miracle? Pray for provision for those less able, that they might know the provision of God like Paul did in the shipwreck recorded in Acts 27 - see  Acts 27:23-26.

Matt 24v20 : Pray about the things you have no control over - the timing.

I'm also reminded of the phrase I've mentioned before with eternities values in view. There are more important things than my temporary comfort. There were (are) more important issues than my wife's healing - things with eternal value to address.
